Weighted Average (Current Grade):

Current Grade = (Grade summed by weight) / (Weights summed completed)

Example: You are 90 percent on Homework (20 percent) and 80 percent on Midterms (30 percent).
(90 × 20) + (80 × 30) = 18 + 24 = 42 points obtained so far of 50 possible percentage points.
Mean = 42/0.50 = 84 percent.

Final Grade Needed Formula:

Final Needed = (Goal - (Current × (1 - FinalWeight))) / FinalWeight

Example: You are currently grading at 84 percent. You want a 90 percent overall. The final is worth 50 percent.
Needed = (90 - (84 times 0.50)) / 0.50 = (90 - 42) / 0.50 = 48 / 0.50 = 96 percent.
To have an A, you have to score 96 percent on the final.
